Since 1992, IO has been working in South Sudan on humanitarian and development programs. IO's activities in the region started in Western Bahr el-Ghazal with food security and WASH interventions in 2007. IO currently implements food security and WASH programs for vulnerable communities which include returnees in Western Bhar-Gazal and Warrap state.
Key Responsibilities Hierarchically dependent on the Field Manager of and functionally on the WASH Manager, with the support of the WASH Specialist in the Barcelona, the Wash officer main duties will be: To be the overall responsible for the management of the IO WASH programme in Gogrial East County, Warrap State. To technically lead the WASH team in the field and ehance and ensure adequate capacity in the field coodination with Admin and HR. To manage the material and financial resources for the WASH projects in collaboration with Logistics and finance officers in Lunyaker. To ensure effective coordination with other departments such as food security, logistics, and finance and admin. Participate in evaluating and designing of WASH related emergencies and recovery responses along with the field WASH team in Gogrial East County. Participate is preparing, planning, implimenting, and monitoring the water , sanitation and hygiene activities of the project. Contribute in recruiting the technical WASH personnel of the project, and enhancing their capacity through identifying gaps, training and/or coaching, and appraising to ensure existance of adequate technical capacity on the ground. Conduct WASH related assessments in the project area and ensure information is updated for all WASH works in Gogrial East County. Participate in the formulation and follow-up of the budget and to place orders for materials and equipment for the field WASH activities, respecting all logistic and financial procedures and controls. Ensure proper coordination with the FSL Officer/team for efficient program implementation and maximum impact.
Experience and Skills Minimum of 2 years professional experience in integrated WASH Program. Pubic Health Engineering, Water and Sanitation specialities, Environment. Specialities in Watsan and hygiene promotion in humanitarian context Practical experience in hygiene promotion in humaniterian context (including use of approaches such as CLTS, PHAST, SLTS), Hydraulic (water distribution system design; GPS, GIS, Auto CAD applications), Hydrology/hydrogeology (water uptake and operation), Water quality (chemical and bacteriological analysis and treatment of waters), Sanitation (latrines, drains, etc) Have experience in skills-raising and training. Languages: English; Arabic is a plus. IT: user level knowledge, awareness of GIS. Immediate availability to go out in the field
Working Conditions Contract of employment: 6 months contract (renewable) Salary: According to Intermón Oxfam salary scale. Social benefits: Medical, life & accident insurance and children benefit.
