Maban, South Sudan - The Nutrition Program Manager, Maban will serve as a key member of the nutrition team and fully participate in key decision making for the program. The primary functions of the Nutrition Program Manager are to supervise and manage the Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program (BSFP) and Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) in both a refugee camp and host community level.
Additional functions include participating in nutrition interventions, accurate reporting, developing necessary contacts and relationships, leading the development of strategies, and managing existing programs and resources. The Nutrition Program Manager will provide day to day supervision, management and training to a team of nutrition staff (BSFP and TSFP).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure the daily field-level execution of the Nutrition program (to include Blanket Supplementary Feeding and Targeted Supplementary Feeding) against all set objectives and targets within the agreed budgets and timeframes. • Oversee outpatient clinical care of moderate acute malnutrition in children under 5 and mentor nutrition staff in excellent care protocols in line with internal and donor standards. Provide nutrition screening for both those living inside the camp and also those in the host community. • Implement International Community Management of Acute Malnutrition guidelines and protocols in Supplementary Feeding settings. • Manage team of national staff nurses, nutrition officers and assistants to deliver excellent outpatient nutrition care. Oversee job description creation, performance reviews, payroll and scheduling for all warehouse staff. • Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports on the progress of the nutrition program in Maban. • Maintain adequate supply chains for Nutrition supplies and medicines. Coordinate with Logistics Manager for establishing and monitoring the inventory. • Advise on nutrition proposals and project budgets, monitor effectiveness and financial expenditures, and evaluate ongoing and new activities. • Conduct field assessments, identifying potential needs, designing and implementing response plans. • Assess, manage, and report critical physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns of supervised staff. • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, its donors and volunteers. • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will have the responsibility of the management of a team of nutrition field workers, a community organizer, a health educator and community nutrition volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ. • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Public Health, or Nutrition required. • Advanced University Degree (M.Sc.) in Nursing, Public Health or Nutrition preferred. • One year of college-level Biblical studies preferred. • 2 years’ experience as a manager or coordinator specifically related to nutrition programming. • Experience in food assistance programming, specifically WFP programs, highly preferred. • Experience in conducting nutrition surveys, including planning, sampling, training, data collection, supervision, data cleaning, analysis, reporting and dissemination. • Methodical and thorough familiarity with SMART method, including software application with plausibility checks and software application (ENA-Epi/ ENA-SMART, or Epi Info). • Experience in use and interpretation of WHO child growth standards. • Strong coordination and interpersonal skills, flexibility, adaptability, and patience. • Ability to assess problems and recommend solutions. • Ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines. • Training and coaching skills; ability to motivate and develop skills of others. • Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity to cultural differences. • Arabic language skills preferred but not required.
12 month contract with the potential for renewal.
