VNG International (www.vng-international.nl) is currently preparing a project proposal for the Local Governance and Service Delivery Project (LGSDP) funded by the World Bank. The beneficiary of this project is the Ministry of Finance, Commerce, Investment and Economic Planning of South Sudan.
The project aims to build the capacity of local governments to effectively perform their responsibilities in the planning, budgeting, procurement, implementation and oversight of local government activities. This will be done mostly through training workshops on state and county level targeting relevant local government staff, as well as providing on-the-job coaching. The duration of the project is 4 years. Implementation will start in 4 fast track initiative states (Upper Nile, Lakes, Western Equatoria and Jonglei), with eventual roll-out to all 10 states.
We are currently recruiting Training Specialist on Engineering for our national team.
Requirements:
- Graduate qualification in civil engineering or a related field.
- At least 5 years of working experience obtained after graduation in planning and managing small infrastructure investments implemented by local contractors and communities.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting local governments and communities managing the implementation of typical small infrastructure subprojects.
- Demonstrated experience in institutional strengthening of sub-national entities, with a preference for experience in training of local staff.
