COUNTRY PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Amref Health Africa in South Sudan has been operation since 1972, it implements maternal and child health, nutrition, malaria, HIV/AIDS and TB, water and sanitation, clinical and diagnostics, and health systems strengthening Programs. Our interventions are aimed at increasing access to quality services to vulnerable Communities with focus on women and children. We work in selected States in the Republic of South Sudan.
CAREEROPPORTUNITY
Amref Health Africa in South Sudan is seeking to recruit a Programme Emergency Health Coordinator -6months– who will be responsible for the management and running of Emergency Programme in South Sudan Office.
Emergency Health Programme Coordinator – 6months Ref. No. JCO/HR/002
The position reports to the senior Program Manager and the incumbent will be based in Juba.
Purpose of the Job:
To provide leadership and technical guidance in the coordinating assessments ,planning ,implementation ,supervision ,monitoring ,evaluation and reporting on emergency response health projects in the Amref Health Africa in South Sudan program portfolio .
Principal Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management
- Planning and coordination of project activities, including support to other stakeholders in implementation of health emergency response interventions.
- Ensure appropriate coordination and effective liaison with the various national emergency health teams and other partners and donors in response to emergency.
- Provide regular, accurate and timely financial and narrative reports for the Senior Management Team, donors and other stakeholders.
- Build on the current emergency short-term interventions to long-term sustainable programmes.
- Work with the senior management to develop guidelines and protocols for AMREF South Sudan response in emergency situations in line with AMREF strategic focus.
- Ensure visibility of AMREF’s South Sudan health emergency response work at national and local levels. Fundraising
- Assist to establish a fundraising strategy for emergency management with the objective of increasing the resources secured nationally and internationally for health emergency response/management activities. Monitoring and Evaluation
- Lead in monitoring and evaluating project processes and activities in order to achieve desired project outputs and results within the allotted timeframe. Networking and Relationship Building
- Participate in relevant technical working groups and committees primarily at national level, provide feedback and develop networks needed to support AMREF South Sudan to deliver on planned results.
- Manage internal and external relations with donors, partners, and collaborators that are stakeholders.
- Research and Advocacy Spearhead research and documentation to showcase the comparative value of AMREF’s South Sudan long term focus in emergency response initiatives.
- Collect data, document and share new experiences and best practices for influencing relevant policies and practices..
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Lead in monitoring and evaluating project processes and activities in order to achieve desired project outputs and results within the allotted timeframe.
- Networking and Relationship Building
- Participate in relevant technical working groups and committees primarily at national level, provide feedback and develop networks needed to support AMREF South Sudan to deliver on planned results.
- Manage internal and external relations with donors, partners, and collaborators that are stakeholders.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and knowledge
Bachelors degree in Medicine , Public health ;Master of public health ;post graduate diploma in managing public health projects in complex humanitarian setting s or its equivalent
Experience
At least five years of relevant work experience

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work Environment
This post is based in Juba which at present is a hard to live and work in operational environment. However the post-holder must be willing to travel at least 50% in the field to support project implementation.
Hours of Work
Normal working hours and maybe required to work outside normal working hours.
