INTERSOSin now implementing in the Republic of South Sudan several humanitarian projects in partnership with UNHCR, UNICEF and CHF. Intersos' intervention deals with IDP and refugee Camps Management, Hygiene, Water & Sanitation, Education and Profiling in favor of the vulnerable population in a wide area of interventions where the mobility conditions are often difficult
and uncomfortable. The projects carried out by Intersos in these areas are founded on a community based approach. From the very beginning the targeted population was involved with direct participation in the process of rehabilitation. This approach aimed to facilitate and increase the sense of ownership by the population of the projects promoted by Intersos.
JOB TITLE: Project Manager in Education
DUTY STATION: South Sudan
STARTING DATE: May 2014
ROLE, TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Manager is responsible, under the supervision of the Area Coordinator and Head of Mission, for the management of the activities carried out in the frame of his/her project. The responsibility is over the operations as well over the financial management and staff coordination:
- to define project management organization and processes (roles, procedures and decisional processes, operational processes, work methodologies) in the assigned area of responsibility;
- to elaborate, manage and monitor general and monthly planning of project activities, as well as relative economic and financial planning on the basis of available donor funds;
- to manage procurement of goods, work and services essential to the project;
- to be responsible for warehouse stock management and relative accounting and for accuracy of monthly inventory;
- to be responsible for accurate assigned project activities administration and to supervise preparation of accounting documents for intermediate and final financial reports required by donors;
- to send to the Deputy Head of Mission the reports on project implementation to be presented to the donor, the monthly project activity reports and the final report evaluating the experience and containing indications for new projects.
- to coordinate with the donor field representatives and other actors involved in the activities to coordinate the expatriated and national staff assigned to his/her project and he/she coordinates with the Area Coordinator for the management to all the human resources available in the area of competence.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Post-graduate degree in Education, human rights, international relations, social sciences, or other related field;
- At least three years experience in Education Projects post emergency and recovery programmes in an emergency context;
- Proven experience in Project Management and in staff supervision, capacity building, project design with excellent analysis and writing skills and budget management;
- Good technical knowledge in the latest developments and approaches to education in emergencies;
- Knowledge of human rights issues; experience in humanitarian needs assessments, surveys, monitoring and evaluation;
- Experience in working with and coordinating with the UN, EU, internationals donors, INGOs etc..;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with capacity of mediate, to manage intercultural relations, to work under stress condition and to respect deadlines;
- Working experience in Southern Sudan a plus;
- Fluent English spoken and written.
