We are looking for an experienced person to drive Oxfam’s policy work and analysis on the South Sudan crisis campaign, and contribute to the regional and global policy work. The post holder will act as overall policy lead for the South Sudan Crisis campaigns and advocacy response: providing specialist humanitarian policy leadership, and working with advocacy and media colleagues to ensure positions and messages on related issues such as long term response, gender justice, women’s rights, and protection are consistent and coherent.
To succeed in this role you will need substantial experience in policy, influencing, networking and alliance building with other agencies, and have led policy work, preferably in the humanitarian field. You should also have experience of managing a team. You should be educated in social sciences to degree level, or equivalent. You will need to have strong conceptual and analytical skills, and experience in developing and implementing advocacy strategies, along with excellent representational and lobbying skills. You will of course need excellent English oral and written communications skills, an ability to write substantial pieces of analysis and an understanding of how media works and how to brief them.
