The Oxfam Confederation is made up of 17 Oxfam affiliates (including Oxfam GB) working across 92 countries. In 2009, all Oxfam affiliates decided to work more closely together as a global movement for change. Oxfam GB has been working in South Sudan since 1983. We aim to overcome poverty and inequality through the most effective, appropriate and enduring solutions. Oxfam’s institutional mandate is therefore threefold; development work, emergency humanitarian relief work & policy advocacy work. Oxfam South Sudan is currently implementing humanitarian response programs and Development Programmes in different parts of the country.
The role
You will be responsible for implementing pilot projects in emergency response through the Emergency Programme and Response team and humanitarian programmes. The post holder will be involved in direct implementation of innovative projects including, design, research, training, monitoring evaluating and learning from innovative activities. You will establish linkages with technical innovations projects globally such as IT, WASH and money transfers and updated on innovative possibilities for humanitarian response. You will visit field sites regularly and add a new perspective to current practices and activities which can be more innovative and enhance dignity and access to humanitarian assistance. You will coordinate with clusters and working groups on the different innovative projects being implemented in a variety of sectors in South Sudan and where possible incorporate environmentally friendly approaches to innovative ideas and projects. In addition you will manage a budget for innovation activities and learning and present to donors in country new and innovative pilots being implemented by Oxfam in South Sudan.
The person
To be successful in this role you will have aBachelor degree in engineering, information technology or any other discipline related to innovative design for WASH and EFSL. Experience in supporting large-scale emergency responses in a complex humanitarian environment with an international or multinational organisation are essential. You will have good communication skills coupled with diplomacy, tact and ability to remain calm under pressure. You will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, coupled with the professional credibility required to influence and motivate others to achieve results.
