LIGHT FOR THE WORLD is a confederation of European NGOs with an office in Juba, South Sudan. It focuses on inclusion of persons with disabilities in development and on humanitarian interventions. The organization is currently implementing a national inclusive education project, in partnership with the South Sudan Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and Stromme Foundation. The project entails development of a national inclusive education policy and teacher training in inclusive education. Therefore, LIGHT FOR THE WORLD requires the expertise of a program officer to work on this project as well as on the inclusive education components of other projects.
We are looking for a qualified person for the position of
– based in Juba
Your duties:
· Project implementation: to support the implementation of inclusive education project activities, including organizing training sessions, workshops, meetings and arrangement of required logistics; to contribute to the development of project activities and to assist the programme manager in shaping project direction
· Knowledge management: to prepare and to draft written outputs related to the implementation of projects such as background papers, progress reports, budget requirements, project briefs, presentations, newsletters, lessons learnt and good practices
· Partnership: to liaise and to coordinate regularly with project partners from the government, national and international NGOs, UN agencies, DPOs and other stakeholders on implementation arrangements
· Visibility: to support the development and production of visibility materials
· Monitoring: to follow up regularly on project deliverables, to monitor progress and to identify gaps that need to be addressed for successful project implementation
· Knowledge sharing/dissemination: to collect and to share relevant documents on inclusive education.
You have:
· Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or Education
· Master’s degree is an advantage
· Experience in inclusive education and/or disability inclusive development
· Experience in project management
· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internet use
· Good knowledge of disability inclusive development
· Good knowledge of planning
· The ability to identify priority activities and/or assignments; and to adjust as necessary
· The potential to allocate an appropriate amount of time and resources for completing work; and to use time efficiently
· initiative and a pro-active attitude
· Strong interpersonal skills
· The ability of taking ownership of assigned responsibilities and of honouring commitments
· The capacity to deliver outputs according to agreed schedules, budgets and quality
· Proven and sustained communication (oral and written) skills; good presentation skills, including formulating positions on issues; articulates options concisely while conveying maximum necessary information; making and defending recommendations
· Proven team spirit; sensitive to and respects diversity; shares credit for team accomplishments; accepts joint responsibility for team shortcomings
· Good use of English (oral and written)
· Proficiency in, at least, one South Sudanese language is an advantage
