15-785: CMR Training Consultant

****BACKGROUND****

International Medical Corps, a global humanitarian nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs, seeks candidates for the position of ****CMR Training Consultant**** in South Sudan.

Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.

Scope of Work:

The consultant will lead training initiatives to improve health response to survivors of sexual assault in 10 sites of conflict-affected South Sudan. The consultant will work alongside a national doctor to organize and facilitate trainings for health service providers including IMC supported health facilities in South Sudan. The consultant will also train non-medical staff working in the health sector and will work with health actors to improve systems and to facilitate survivor-centered care.

****ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES****

Responsibilities and deliverables:

All tasks and responsibilities are to be completed within a six-month timeframe and with support of the GBV and RH Coordinators based in Juba.

  • Develop a five-day training curriculum for CMR, adapting international standard training materials in line with national protocols and the South Sudan context
  • Work with MoH to finalize the curriculum and to lead an initial state level training for MoH and IMC staff in Wau, Rumbek and Juba
  • Lead, rollout and facilitate field-based trainings for up to 25 health staff in 10 sites where IMC supports health facilities
  • Work with health sector staff to recommend changes insystems related to patient flow, privacy, security of files
  • Prepare training reports and provide regular updates to GBV and RH Coordinator
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly report and submit to GBV and RH Coordinator
  • Prepare an end-of assignment report outlining accomplishments, challenges and recommendations for further interventions.

****QUALIFICATIONS****

“To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.”

  • Advanced degree in social work, public health or similarly appropriate educational/professional background
  • Understanding of international CMR protocols
  • Experience in GBV programming, including experience with case management and support services for survivors.
  • Experience organizing and leading trainings, including CMR trainings
  • Experience in direct support of survivors of sexual violence
  • Experience in Africa or similar contexts preferred
  • Strong English language skills required; Arabic beneficial

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment in the field site office involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
