We are looking for a highly qualified, self-motivated **Information Management Officers*able to work with diverse teams of both national and international staff as well as local government authorities, UN agencies, I/NGOs and other partners.*
Who are we?
The Danish Refugee Council has been in South Sudan since 2004 working with refugees, internally displaced people and returnees. In 2012, DRC opened its operations in Upper Nile State (Maban County) to respond to the large influx of refugees coming from Blue Nile State in Sudan and in early 2013 DRC expanded its operations to Unity State and is currently managing a refugee camp (Ajoung Thok) for new refugees from South Kordofan. In additional DRC is responding to the current humanitarian crisis of internal displacement. DRC is the camp manager of several camps in the northern states of South Sudan and has also been working closely with humanitarian partners in relation to the coordination of humanitarian assistance and advocacy issues. DRC also has activities in the sectors of community services, protection, GBV, livelihoods, shelter and infrastructure and logistics in the IDP/refugee areas. In returnee areas DRC is implementing food security and livelihood activities to support durable solutions.
About the job
The Information Management Officer is responsible to collect and disseminate information on the needs and activities within the Bentiu, Malakal and Melut PoCs (Protection of Civilians) and at County Level. S/he will be working closely with partner organizations and UN agencies to ensure the assistance is coordinated and based on needs.
She/he will act as focal point for information dissemination to the cluster and other coordination mechanisms. Moreover if security allows, the Information Management Officer will be responsible to collect information at County level and act as CCCM County Focal Point for DRC. The Information Management Officer will work under the supervision of the Camp Manager (CM) and with technical support from the CCCM Coordination.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Oversee the overall information management activities of the camp including registration, tracking, and other trends.
- Collect regular information about camp activities from partner organizations and UN agencies working in the POC
- Prepare/update the weekly camp provide, 4Ws, support IOM in DTM, monthly camp reports, and other information products or Information management document that might be needed
- Actively disseminate the collected information through existing forums at the local/County level
- Work closely with the teams during camp outreach activities that foresee collection of data (camp surveys, assessments, amongst other activities.)
Coordination/Representation/Reporting
- Work closely with CCCM Cluster and under the direction of the Camp Manager to ensure the coordination of information sharing and dissemination
- Contribute to internal and external reports within agreed deadlines as required
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders at Camp and County level (when necessary, possible and available), NGOs, UN agencies, camp leaders, local authorities to strengthen cooperation and coordination
- Ensure that information from coordination meetings are shared internally and with other sectors
- Ensure that information are shared with all DRC sectors and Managers to ensure integration within the area program
Staff Management (Registration staff, data collectors)
- Recruit all national staff for the project in conjunction with the HR Department and under the supervision of the Camp Manager
- Maintain updated job descriptions, conduct interviews, orient new staff
- Provide ongoing supervision, leadership, training and technical support and guidance to program staff
- Overall responsibility for program team’s timesheets, work plans, vacation schedules, and staff training/development activities
- Ensure Performance documentation for all staff is in place and followed up regularly in collaboration with HR Department
- Build staff capacity in work plan development and reporting to ensure accurate monitoring and documentation of activities
- Ensure program staff strictly follow DRC Code of Conduct policy and promptly alert relevant DRC focal points if required and in case of breaches
Accountability
- Ensure that DRC’s accountability obligations are delegated and carried out in accordance with the HAP Standard for Humanitarian Accountability and Quality Management.
Staff Safety
- Ensure that appropriate information regarding security in the area is collected and shared with TL and SA;
- Ensure compliance to SOPs by staff under direct supervision
- Ensure that security incidents are promptly reported to Team Leader and Security Advisor for follow up
- Any other duties related to DRC work as agreed with the CM and Area Manager
About you
Essential:
- Degree in Social Work or Emergency Management
- Minimum 2-4 years of practical experience in emergency project information management
- Significant, demonstrable experience working directly with beneficiary populations, coordination with agencies in community mobilization (professional reference included in CV strongly recommended)
- Experience in staff management in challenging environment including provision of capacity building
- Ability and willingness to work and live in a basic and, at times, challenging environment.
- Significant experience working in a conflict environment, preferably in deep field positions, with a good understanding of safety and security procedures
- information management, data analysis/statistics
- Skills in Project Cycle Management, and basic knowledge of logistics and finance processes
- Strong written and verbal English
Preferred
Experience in South Sudan
Experience working in an IDP and/or refugee camp environments or displaced populations
Experience with emergency CCCM/ Community Services/ Information Management in camps
Arabic language (or other local languages common to South Sudan)

We offer
Contract: 6 months contract with possibility of extension (depending on funding and performance) after a successful probation period.
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Expatriates; please refer to www.drc.dk under Vacancies. This position will be placed at level A13. In addition, we offer 5 days of remunerated R&R (Rest & Recovery) leave every 8 weeks for Juba based staff and every 6 weeks for field based staff.
