Organizational Context:
Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic organization, with a mission to accompany, serve and defend the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people. JRS has a priority to work wherever the needs of displaced people are urgent and unattended by others, and offers a human service to refugees and the communities through a wide range of rehabilitation and relief activities, many of which center around formal and informal education needs.
Position Description
JRS is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for the position of Computer and IT Skills Trainer.
Goal: To equip JRS staff with skills to operate more effectively a range of identified computer packages required to enhance the ability of the project to undertake and report on its activities. Particular focus will be on improving competencies in Microsoft WORD, EXCEL and ACCESS. English Language Staff will also be coached to use game based and learning apps to assist in Adult Literacy and English language learning. Proper data management and storage systems for JRS Maban operation will also be developed.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop training manuals and deliver appropriate in class and on-the-job IT trainings for JRS staff.
- Transfer skills on Word, Excel and Access to JRS staff.
- Excel: Use of functions, tables, charts, styles, themes, quick parts, Automate Document Formatting, Document Flow, Mail Merge, Macros, etc.
- Provide a bank of Computer/smartphone learning apps for the Adult Literacy and English language courses.
- Develop strong data storage, sharing and back-up systems for JRS Maban.
REPORTING
The Trainer keeps the IT Coordinator and the Project Director informed on the activities of the project by providing weekly written reports of work completed and progress monitoring reports for each individual staff member.
LENGTH, LOCATIONS, SESSIONS, BENEFICIARIES
September to December
Training dates: ( 12weeks)
JRS Bunj, Maban County.
The Trainer will teach classes to two levels of competency among staff .
The trainer will assist in assessing the skill level of each member of staff and develop an individual training plan taking into account the level of competency of the staff member and the requirements of their duties.
The trainer will also be available through-out the non-class times to assist staff perform computer functions and so apply the new skill levels on the job.
Training of English Language Tutors will take place as a separate module and will also include Smartphone/Computer apps and educational games.
Location: JRS Bunj and other locations within Maban County as deemed appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essentials:
Degree or Equivalent Qualification in IT (related degree with relevant experience maybe considered)
Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in use of WORD and EXCEL at a high level.
Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in delivery of computer and IT trainings
Work experience in emergency refugee operations and early recovery phases
Languages: Excellent communication skills in English written and oral (required) and Classic Arabic (advantage)
Should be responsible, active and willing to work without close supervision
Should be able to work in a multicultural team,
Flexibility, resilience to stress and ability to adapt
Previous experience with JRS (advantage)
