Emergency Nutrition Technical Specialist

The Emergency Nutrition TS will oversee and manage CMAM and IYCF programs in drought affected counties of South Sudan, and to ensure that the all components of the emergency nutrition response programme are functioning properly, providing care of quality to all the patients/beneficiaries through respecting protocols and principles of good practice.

Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • Health / Public Health / Nutrition BSc/MSC or equivalent
  • Demonstrable management experience, including budget holding responsibility
  • Experience of emergency nutrition work and the design and implementation of feeding programmes (ideally CMAM), and IYCF-E including monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience in conducting nutrition assessments and an understanding of nutritional surveillance and information systems
  • Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach staff
  • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions

· Prepared to live and work in an uncertain security environment

· Ability and willingness to frequently travel and stay at the field

· Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles

  • Demonstrable ability at report writing and excellent communication skills
  • Computer literacy

· Fluency in written and spoken English and local languages

Desirable

  • Qualified nurse with primary health care/community health care experience

Contract length: 12 months

Location: Juba with frequent travel in South Sudan
