Ajuong, South Sudan - Samaritan’s Purse is growing!

The Food Program Coordinator, Ajuong will be responsible for the overall coordination and management of the Food Assistance project in Ajuong Refugee Camp. The coordinator will be responsible for regular program reporting to the Program Manager, staff management and development, and the supervision of Samaritan’s Purse assets. The Program Coordinator will be expected to attend devotions and be an example to others through their faith and walk with God. They will be based in Ajuong with limited travel to Yida.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Direct line management of all food distribution and food warehousing staff in Ajuong, both casual labor and contracted staff. • Manage the General Food Distribution (GFD) and any Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program distributions determined necessary based on malnutrition rates in Ajuong. • Responsible for the warehouse compound, all food stored in Ajuong in support of programming and submitting all reports to the Unity State Commodity Manager. There are up to 4 warehouses and 2,000 metric tons of food. • Complete daily stock reports, waybill summary reports and food distribution trackers and submit to the Program Manager based in Yida Refugee Camp. • Manage Post Distribution Monitoring surveys two weeks after distributions. • Conduct appraisals for all food distribution staff, addressing underperformance, rewarding success and identifying targets for improvement. • Encourage and facilitate the ongoing professional development of food distribution staff through support, guidance, training and mentoring. • Encourage spiritual development and provide counseling to food assistance staff. • Promote and maintain good communication within the team. • Liaise with UNHCR, World Food Program (WFP) and Danish Refugee Council (Ajuong Camp Manager) to facilitate successful program implementation. • Provide professional representation of Samaritan’s Purse at coordination meetings with government, donor and civil society partners, NGOs and refugee communities. • Monitor, care for and maintain Samaritan’s Purse owned assets. • Ensure the food assistance project activities are conducted in accordance with the agreed work-plans and proposals signed with UNHCR and WFP. • Ensure effective budget management at field level, including correct coding of expenses and adherence to Samaritan’s Purse’s financial management guidelines. • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, its donors and volunteers. • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public. • Assess, manage, and report critical physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns of supervised staff. • Help with any other duties as determined necessary by the Program Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ. • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Science highly preferred. • One year of college-level Biblical studies is preferred. • 2+ years nutrition programming preferred. Experience in food assistance programming, specifically WFP programs, highly preferred. • Management and capacity building experience of national staff in NGO programming preferred. • Willingness to travel in and out of field. • Practical, quick reasoning skills, must be able to keep communication lines open with all parties in the program, needs strong organizational and time management skills. • Ability to coordinate activities with other agencies, build and maintain positive working relationships. • Arabic language skills preferred but not required.

12 month contract with the potential for renewal.

This is an unaccompanied assignment.
