The primary function of the Midwifery Trainer is to teach the required knowledge, skills and attitudes to the students of enrolled midwifery school in Kajo Keji and practical areas. The Midwifery Trainer will report to the National Training Institute Principal/ Program Manager for program implementation, management decisions and technical issues.

• Teach the required knowledge, skills and attitudes to the students of enrolled midwifery program according to the national curricula and using a variety of teaching methods • Prepare lessons and conduct the theoretical and practical training of students in classroom and in clinical settings • Plan clinical instruction based upon approved curricula to ensure course content is covered and all learning objectives are met • Attend the clinical settings together with students, teach the required skills and supervise students while practicing • Serve as liaison between the institute and the teaching hospital (clinical setting) in matters pertaining to the students’ clinical practice • Plan for training sessions for each semester so that the content of the curriculum will be completely covered • Conduct continuous and final assessment of students’ theoretical and clinical abilities • Maintain a high level of student attendance by checking and keeping accurate daily attendance records, record absentees, and communication attendance concerns to the administration/management for necessary action • Assess educational needs of the learners, evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and make recommendations for program improvement or content revision

• Submit quarterly reports, in coordination with the Principal by collection of information and data from student progress, data analysis, and report documentation • Actively support timely, substantive, and appropriate documents that lead to funding support from donors in coordination with the Principal and Country Management Team • Carry out any other duties as requested by the relevant supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS • BS/BSC in Midwifery and Nursing • At least three years of previous work experience in pre-service education, particularly midwifery instruction • Ability to effectively present technical and non-technical information to diverse audiences, including senior management, donors, and GOSS representatives; • Previous relevant experience in Africa – South Sudan is added value • Flexibility, practical, problem solving and willingness to adjust to changing responsibilities or needs as they arise • Proven ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment • Professional fluency in spoken and written English, Arabic will be an asset • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently • Creative and able to work with limited resources • Basic knowledge of logistics and admin/HR • Good computer skills-Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet)
