South Sudan: Children in Emergencies Coordinator

This is your opportunity to use your experience in Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs (HEA) to help improve the lives and futures of some of the world's most vulnerable children in the most challenging humanitarian context today.

You can do this by joining World Vision – a global network of people committed to enhance the well-being and protection of children everywhere by empowering them, their families and communities to overcome the challenges of poverty and injustice.
Due to needs on the ground World Vision has been in collaboration with UNICEF's currently providing child protection and children in emergencies services to the UNMISS base in Malakal and will extend children intervention in Twic IDP sites.

The Children in Emergencies Coordinator will play a critical part in managing and shaping these services to affected population of over 35,000 people.

We believe that every child is a precious gift to the entire world and that their well-being concerns us all. We will not rest while children suffer in situations that can be changed. We are looking for people who share our beliefs and our passion.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Contribute to the overall South Sudan response strategy and coordinate implementation of CIE strategy.
  • Coach/mentor/manage Project Coordinators (Delegation of authority/responsibility with clear standards of accountability).
  • Provide leadership for new grant initiatives (new projects, new donors) in collaboration with Response Team Leader.
  • Manage and coordinate connections with partner local and international NGOs, UN agencies and different donors and community representatives and stakeholders.
  • Be aware of the emergency procedures in a response and ensure that necessary preparedness measures have been implemented.

REQUIRED SKILLS INCLUDE:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a sociological or health related field or substantial field/practical experience working with children in emergency situations.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in HEA work, with significant experience in integrating children’s issues across sectors.
  • Familiarity with interagency child protection minimum standards, tools and training package, interagency coordination work, child exploitation issues, emergency relief, the UN CRC and the field of child protection.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and negotiation skills and ability to think strategically and adjust quickly in a new interagency environment.
  • Working in the field in an environment with basic facilities.
