Due to needs on the ground World Vision, in collaboration with International Organization for Migration (IOM) and other WASH humanitarian partners is currently providing WASH and hygiene promotion services to the UNMISS base in Malakal and other parts of Upper Nile where Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are settled/seeking protection.
The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Project Officer, WV South Sudan Response, Malakal will play a critical part in managing and shaping these services to affected population of over 35,000 people in Upper Nile State in South Sudan.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Oversee and manage the Water Sanitation and Hygiene Project in an IDP settlement site
- Develop design plans, working drawings, technical specifications, bill of quantities as per approved standards by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure for all construction works outlined on the project design for the said project, including emergency sanitation facilities.
- Establish and oversee implementation of systems for efficiently controlling the quality of technical works; closely tracking works progress against payment and work plans, and controlling the quality of the final construction outputs as per donor and user community expectations.
- Coordinate and mobilise community user groups, including formation of effective household based sanitation committees and water user management committees to within each of the two refugee camps.
REQUIRED SKILLS INCLUDE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Environmental / Public Health Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in mainstreaming WASH into other sector programmes within humanitarian settings.
- Must be willing to work in a changing hostile environment where living conditions are sub-standard.
- At least 5 years experience and skills in supervision of infrastructural construction works using community groups/cash for work arrangements, civil society groups and contractors.
- At least 3 years’ experience in supervision of construction/rehabilitation of emergency water supplies basic sanitation facilities in a large displaced community set up.
- Experience in coordination and supervision of sanitation and household refuse/waste management using community based approaches.
- Experience in designing and implementing WASH facilities like latrine and bathing cubicles, Emergency water supplies lines and hygiene promotion for affected people in displacement camps.
