Purpose of the Job:-
To provide technical expertise and managerial leadership in AMREF South Sudan Capacity Building programme.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:-
- Identify training needs and gaps and develop appropriate training strategic and operational plans and programmes responsive the Human Resources for Health needs of south Sudan.
- In conjunction with AMREF and Ministry of health of the government of south Sudan Directorates of capacity building; design and develop curricula and learning materials; organize and coordinate various training activities.
- Monitor and evaluate training curricula and implementation activities
- Fundraise to support AMREF South Sudan capacity building programme through proposal development and consultancies.
- Advocate for and leverage resources from central and state governments, health development partners, civil society and private sector to invest in human resources for Health.
- Prepare both technical and management training reports to a variety of audience, including management, donors, etc.
- Document and share experiences and lessons learnt on human resources for health development (HRHD) in south Sudan with stakeholders within the country ,in the region and globally
- Build strategic partnerships and alliances with government agencies, UN system, NGOs forum, professional bodies and academic institutions to advance the AMREF training and capacity building program in south Sudan.
- Market the AMREF South Sudan Training programmes
- Provide supportive supervision and backstopping to Maridi and other AMREF supported training institutions.
- Represent AMREF in all Committees and Task Forces related with Training and Capacity Building in the national ministry of health.
- Act as the Capacity Building Focal person in South Sudan.
Basic Degree in Health Sciences ( Medicine, Nursing, Public Health , Health Service Management) with a post graduate diploma and or degree in Health services management or Health training and development from a reputable health training college/university. 5-10 years experience in health system strengthening with focus on human resource for health training and development is desirable. Strong training programming, management and technical skills in resource constrained fragile developing country settings. Should have Knowledge of international and national human resources for health curriculum and capacity building training issues ,policies program development ,coordination of implementation ,monitoring and evaluation, Demonstrated skills in the technical side of human resources for health capacity building program design/planning ,implementation and reporting, Experience in the development of strategic and tactical human resources for health capacity building plans in cooperation with others who represent a wide range of interests and needs. Ability to interact with established networks of senior level international and national health professionals, donors, universities and other partners, Field oriented and comfortable with a team approach to programming and the ability to manage several major activities simultaneously. Should demonstrate collaborative relationship with field-based international donor agencies, strong change management, results oriented and decision making skills With excellent presentation skills and verbal and written communications skills.
Aware of and sensitive to working in multiple socio-economic settings and with multi-cultural groups in a developing country environment and appreciation for socio-cultural differences in countries, preferably having lived and worked in one or more resource constrained and fragile country settings.
Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform. Ability to lead or contribute significantly to new program development and proposal writing. An independent programmer, capable of running program with minimum supervision.
Fluency in English and Arabic.
