- Sustainable livelihoods which include (Food Security, Education and Water/Sanitation) sectors.
LWF/DWS South Sudan Programme has been implementing the education activities in Yussif Batil, Gendrassa and Kaya Refugee camps, Maban Country, Upper Nile State under five projects;
One of the strategic objectives for LWF South Sudan is to increase access to education and improve quality of learning for children and adults in Upper Nile State. This is expected to result in an improved teaching and learning environment and increased enrolment and retention rates and hence reduced dropout rates in the target schools. Training of teachers is one of the factors that contribute greatly in improving the quality of teaching and learning. LWF runs 15 Primary Schools across Yussif Batil, Gendrassa and Kaya refugee camps and has just started to run one Secondary School between Yussif Batil and Gendrassa. With funding from SIDA (Swedish International Development Agency), LWF/DWS seeks to train all secondary teachers (9) on curriculum content, teaching methodology, psychosocial support, life skills, child rights and positive disciplining and 60 primary school teachers on the same topics.
Goal
To familiarise the participants with the MoEST Primary and Secondary curricula and equip the participants with the modern pedagogical teaching and learning methods employed when teaching in the classroom to improve the quality of teaching and learning.

Training structure & methodology
The training will be undertaken in three shifts to cater for the number of participants and difference between the primary and secondary teachers. One workshop will be for Yusuf Batil for 5 days, one in Kaya for five days and one at Gentil Secondary School for five days.
The methodologies employed will include presentations, group discussions, brainstorming, micro teaching, simulation and role play.
The consultant should share and discuss the training manual with the Education Coordinator in Maban ahead of the training. Ideally, the training would be conducted in English for primary school teachers and complemented in Arabic; an interpreter from one of the staff can be made available if required due to the proficiency level of some teachers in English. The training should be simplified to the level of the teachers and must be practical and realistic for the emergency situation in the camps. The secondary school training should be conducted in English and Arabic due to the school running both English and Arabic secondary curriculums based on the learners previous schooling experience.
