Its core mission is contributing to the development processes which safeguard and promote the right to health, by acting with an integrated approach on the health needs and by influencing the social-‐economical determinants. CCM aims at improving health conditions of the population in low-‐ income countries and intervenes through projects of international cooperation, education to the world citizenship, advocacy activities and interventions of health promotion in the context of migration processes.*
CC*M**cooperates with the local communities and authorities to strengthen and develop the health systems, to improve accessibility to and the quality of prevention and health care services. I*n**Tonj South CountyofWarrap stateCCM**is acting as CHD leading agency supporting* p*ri**m**a**ry* hea*lt**h* ca*r**e* se*r**v**i**ces**,**Nu**triti**on services and secondary health care in the Tonj County Hospital.* In State, CCM is currently implementing health projects in partnership with the Warrap State MoH. The activities implemented include: (I) support to facility based primary health care; (II) community based interventions; (III) public sensitization campaigns on Health and Nutrition; (iv) support to the maternal health and surgery in the Tonj County Hospital.
To ensure smooth implementation of Secondary Health care services in the Tonj County Hospital (Tonj South, Warrap State) CCM intends to recruit:
POSITION: Laboratory Technician(1)
Duty station: Tonj County Hospital Contract duration: 3 month (probation period), renewable
The Laboratory Technician is a key role within CCM Tonj County Hospital project, requiring the activities outlined in the job description below to be fulfilled. Successful candidate is expected to have the ability to develop and improve the functions of the position within the organization.
She/he will be part of a dynamic secondary health care team and will be responsible of the management of the laboratory and of the correct and timely realization of the required analysis in coordination with the other ward of the TCH. She/he will report to CCM Medical Coordinator and to the SMoH Hospital Director..
Objectives and general characteristics
- Ensure the efficient functioning of the laboratory in the Tonj County Hospital;
- Facilitate the capacity building of local health staff;
- Improve the data collection and reporting system, according to RoSS guidelines and tools;
- Collaborate with CCM project team for the timely and effective implementation of project activities;
Areas of responsibility
- Link with the CCM Medical Coordinator and to the SMoH Hospital Director for: (i) the management of local laboratory human resources; (ii) the registration of laboratory data and related reporting at State level (DHIS).
- In collaboration with CCM Medical Coordinator, supervise routine laboratory diagnosis and activities in TCH and ensure effective functioning of lab services;
- In collaboration with CCM Medical Coordinator and to the SMoH Hospital Director, recruit and train/mentor/coach laboratory assistants in 4 CCM supported facilities in Greater Tonj;
- Assist laboratory personnel in preparing working reagent solutions for required tests.
- Implement and emphasize professional and ethical practice in the laboratory;
- Prepare laboratory stock orders and ensure a good stock management and monitoring system.
- In line with RoSS MoH guidelines and tools, develop training manuals, training curricula and quality control systems to improve quality of laboratory services;
- Provide CCM CCM Medical Coordinator and to the SMoH Hospital Director technical advice on issues concerning the laboratory management;
- Coordinate with CCM CCM Medical Coordinator and to the SMoH Hospital Director to timely submit to local institutions and donors progressive reports and data on Laboratory performances to help strengthen the Laboratory activities.
- Periodically report to the CCM Medical Coordinator and to the SMoH Hospital Director on the activities carried out and collaborate with the PM for the organization of the monthly and quarterly activities plan.
Qualification:
- Relevant diploma and/or academic qualification in Laboratory Sciences or similar;
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in laboratory supervision and roll out of trainings;
- Previous experience in TB programmes;
- Fluent in both oral and written English;
- Basic IT skills;
Other attributes
· At least two years previous working experience with an NGO in similar position of reporting and responsibility;
· Basic knowledge of Anaesthesia;
· Energetic, independent and self-motivated to work in resource limited and harsh environment;
· Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills.
