Closing date: 18 Apr 2015
Following on from the largest United Nations mission in the history of the organisation, now is your chance to play a part in the largest humanitarian aid effort operating in the world.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ecobank and the Global Fund (TGF) have been collaborating since 2011 on various capacity building programmes for TGF Recipients in Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria and South Sudan. Benefiting from this successful experience, the parties have decided to expand their partnership and enter into a 3 to 5 years agreement to formalize Ecobank’s support for TGF’s work and programs in selected countries in Africa. The main objective of the Partnership is to leverage private sector resources and skills in the fight against the three diseases whilst simultaneously strengthening South Sudan’s healthcare infrastructure.
Phase 1 of financial capacity building in South Sudan was successfully completed last year when two AfID volunteer travelled to support different local partners in country. The project was kicked off at the end September 2014 and tangible progress has been made in building human resource capacity and more importantly in building systems which satisfy donor requirements and are integrated within the national systems. In particular the Ministry of Health/HIV and National Tuberculosis, Leprosy and Buruli Ulcer Control Program (NTP) were the beneficiaries of the support. The National Malaria Control Programme participated in all training and obtained support.
Phase 2 will be start soon. For this phase, the Partnership aims at:
· Helping to contribute to the fight against Malaria in South Sudan and in saving more lives
· Strengthening the financial management capabilities of the nominated PR and SRs
· Utilising private sector acquired expertise of qualified Accountants and Bankers to deliver financial and accounting trainings for the nominated PR and SRs
· Improving the overall financial capacity of the nominated PR and SRs in readiness for the next round of grant awards by TGF
· Providing innovative solutions to the need for financial capacity building
This Partnership aims to deliver:
· 4-6 weeks capacity building assignments training for the selected local organisations – tailored to their specific needs
· Training will include: Budgeting, Forecasting and Variance Analysis; Software and Accounting Procedures; Financial Reporting (Process, templates etc.); Cash and Treasury Management (FX and Cash management, including advance management); Process , Procedures & Non-Compliance; Internal Audit ; HR Structure/ Issues; SR Oversight; Payment Modalities (Cash, Bank & Mobile, credit cards); Asset Management
This is a unique opportunity to use your experience to make a life-changing difference to the effectiveness of implementing govt. agencies, civil society, international development organizations and communities living with and affected by the diseases.
We envision this will be either a 6-8 weeks or 10-12 weeks assignment; they would ideally like a volunteer to support them in April-May. The role will be based in Juba.
